Now that I'm over being salty about the Cavs losing. I will now post my 2cents about how "The Man" is ruining professional basketball. If you watched the regular NBA season you know that certain teams stood out the entire season. Therefore there was no question as to who would dominate the playoffs and eventually make it to the finals. "The Man" also knew this because he knows EVERYTHING.

Now what YOU DONT REALIZE is that "The Man" in his effort to get every dime he possibly can concocked a sinister plan to get the American public to watch the playoffs.

HE PAID THESE TEAMS TO LOSE!!!!!!!!!!!

Com'on people think about it WAKE UP!!! There is no reason in HELL the Hawks and Celtics should have played that effin long are you serious!?!? There is no plausible reason the Lakers and ANYBODY should play that long....

SERIOUSLY the HAWKS??? Dude I went to a Hawks game last season, sat in damn near the front row for $22 and got a free hat, hotdog, and 20oz coke...no bullshit..the Hawks aren't worth a pot to piss in!

Seriously even in the Cavs/Celtics series that first game should have opened your eyes to the fact that this shit was fixed. Ray Allen was scoreless for the FIRST TIME SINCE HIS FIRST EVER NBA GAME...Lebron missed EVERYTHING!!!! Common now that's like saying Mark Price can't shoot a three...thats like sayin MJ can't dunk....thats like sayin Charles Barkley aint broke...it was ridiculous...all in the name of making shit interesting to get those commercial dollars, people to fill in the arenas, and watching a effin fixed series.

To be honest I think the first real games will be the Conference Finals....its just ashame that professional sports lack the competitive edge they had back in the mid-early 90's to such an extent that "The Man" would stoop to fixing the playoffs to make it interesting.

As many of you know, a few of the contributors over here @ varsitysquad.blogspot.com are djs. The rest have a huge respect for djs and an even bigger love for music. So we all know what goes into rocking a party and what makes a good dj set. With that said we all talk about and agree on the fact that most, probably about 8.5/10 djs absolutely suck.

The digital revolution has brought in an influx of djs. These pseudo selctors would have never spent $8 a copy for doubles of Peter Piper but now that they have a laptop and a highspeed connection they can lift mp3s from their favorite blogs and head into the club with little to no practice. Which leads me to my next rant. YOU PROMOTORS ARE IDIOTS.....or maybe you dont hear the same thing we all hear. Im not saying you have to know how to scratch to be a "dj" but I do believe you should have a sense for what a crowd wants to hear. You also should be able to beatmatch on some level. I digress and step off my soap box. Ali on the Air wrote an interestng piece on this phenomenon and really explores what makes a dj a "dj" in this digital age, check it out HERE

07 Detroit series Deja vu?

This saturday I too was a "witness", however instead of witnessing from my living room I was actually courtside basking in the ambiance of the post season battle between the Cleveland Cavaliers & the Boston Celtics. (Big Shouts to the homey Barry Cofield of the NY Giants!) LBJ scored 21 points on another off-shooting night, but Delonte West scored 21, Joe Smith had 17 and the Cavaliers raced to a large, early lead in Game 3 for a 108-84 victory over the Boston Celtics to pull within 2-1 in the playoff series.

Last year, the Cavaliers lost the first two games of the Eastern Conference finals to Detroit before beating the Pistons four in a row to advance to the finals for the first time. Ive got faith in the boys to do a repeat performance of last year & quiet the nay sayers once again. GOOD LUCK TONIGHT FELLAS!!!!

Somehow this flew under my radar, (probably because "I aint r&b smooth/I aint a r&b dude/")but this song is dope and feels like real r&b. Not the usual slowed down rap that poses as r&b, and thats the reason why I like Ryan Leslie. Below you will find some info in his own words about how this song came about.

SONG: I've spent the last 2 weekends shooting a crazy photo story for my single "Diamond Girl" starring Russian fashion model Irina Sheik (http://supermodels.nl/irinasheik ). The concept required that we have some chemistry on set and since I speak very little Russian, I started singing this song and melody to break the ice and lighten up the vibe. By the end of the shoot, the boys on my staff suggested I lay it down, so here it is.

VIDEO: A few months ago, I hired Guillaume Doubet (http://www.myspace.com/ilovegeedub ), a talented young director from France to come and work on our video team. He came up with the concept to shoot this video at double speed so when we played it back in real-time, it would have the slow motion effect that you see. So - imagine dancing and singing this song at 2x the speed all in one continuous take - no edits. Watch closely, the end of the video where I walk off screen really gives it away. PLEASE NOTE: This means that the video was shot in exactly 113 seconds (or 1/2 the time it will take you to watch it).
