The proceeds from the event will go towards providing money to pioneer new modes of Cancer Research to work toward a cure for the life-threatening disease. Reid and Edmonds have also gathered some of the best artists (of all genres) to produce a single in support of the event entitled "Just Stand Up". On September 5th, ABC, CBS, and NBC, will have a commercial-free, one-hour broadcast of the groundbreaking performance, making this the first time that the major networks have done this as a fundraiser to fight against a disease.

After listening to the mix that K-Nyce put up from Dj Wonder I was initially disappointed in how Wonder only played a snippet of the original Hayes tracks, then a huge chunk of the rap versions. But that all changed about 22 minutes into the mix... For about 10years Ive always wondered what the fu*k the sample was at the beginning of Biggie's "Wickedest" freestyle. The joint was soooo smooth & I low key got mad when the beat switched from the melow groove to the hard core beat BIG rhymed over. Needless to say I FOUND IT. But I will stop talking, & just sip summore of this courvosier as I bid my man Isaac Hayes farewell...

Diddy has announced that he will be releasing yet another fragrance entitled, "I Am King". The new cologne will be apart of a Macy's Exclusive in December just in time for the holiday season. He tells Women's Wear Daily that the new fragrance is supposed to make you feel like royalty,“We are all descendents of royalty — and if we carry ourselves and respect ourselves in that manner and believe in ourselves, then we are all kings." Hip-Hop's New Favorite Fad True Religion Brand Jeans released their line for Fall 2008. Only this time, they've ventured into the footwear market. True Religion has produced a new line of sneakers, sandals, and boots for both men and women to rock during the upcoming fall season. The only problem is, they're atrocious! I personally own a couple pairs of Trues (jeans) myself, and i feel like a million bucks....but this my friends......absolute no-no! I'll keep my smooth one $130.00 in my pocket and buy a bazillion pairs of chucks before I swipe my card for these...no disrespect, I'm just saying, lol.

With the recent publicity regarding the topic of being "Black in America", not to mention Procter and Gamble (L'Oreal's Corporate Company), doing a Multi-City tour entitled "My Black is Beautiful", how does this ad make you feel? So, my man G-Spot hit me up on a lazy sunday to spin for him @ Sunset Lounge.....I was mad tired and I didnt feel like going. I needed cake though, so I had to "Git Up, Git Out & Do Sumthin" and man was I happy I did. It was the Talk of Clevelands 2 year Anniversary (shout out to my man Tony Harris) and they had performances by some of their favorite artists in the area. This is an underground track that I came across by Baby sister, Solange Knowles. She takes Kanye's "Everything I Am", off of the Graduation album and puts her own spin on it, which includes her perception of the industry as an up and coming artist shadowing her famous siblings' international superstardom. Here's what Solange had to say in regards to the track:

With the newest offerings from the Neptunes, be it in the form of just Pharell & Chad, N.E.R.D. or CRS the neptunes have expanded their audience and sound tremendously. Considering all of the above what is your all time favorite Pharell & Chad produced track?

StepOne: The best neptunes song or beat was superthug. Superthug started off the neptunes as one of hip hops powerhouse producers but it also was one of my alltime favorite club bangers. Nore, while not the most spectacular lyricist did a good job riding the beat and making a terrific track.

Ro!:This question is so difficult to answer because the Neptunes have put in so much work over the years, but if I gotta pick one beat that stands out from the rest, I gotta go with the "I Still Love you" beat that the Neptunes did for 702. The drums are crazy & the bells take me straight to Jamout blvd. The transition into the bridge is also noteworthy, its just an all around dope track...

Teddy:Aiight, my favorite beat from the neptunes is honestly all their beats! Lo~fi/Hi~fi electronica based beats, mixed together w/ live band and hip~hop melody&harmony's definitly puts the neptunes ahead of the production game about a couple years!

Nyce:Im gonna be going with the obvious here......"Grindin" has to be my all time favorite Neptunes track. I remember the first time I heard it I was like "what is this"??? You hear alot of cats talk about " (insert random beat) is gonna be the next millie" well I would go as far to say "millie" was the next "grindin". The drums and lack of melody on that track was so nuts that it had every rapper of that day jumping on it to freestyle and intimidated dj's to mix it (if your mix was even slightly off while mixing grindin the whole world would know.lol).

So... The Varsity Squad had the stupendous opportunity to experience the "Glow in the Dark" tour this past weekend. & I must say it was absolutely craazzy! Unfortunately, I missed Lupe's performance due to us arriving in the city waay beyond schedule. But when I finally got there N.E.R.D. was on there second song & they murdered it, as to be expected. "Rockstar" made the audience explode & "Everyone Nose" had us all feeling like we were on the "nose candy". (Just kidding, kids say no to drugs...)

And last but certainly not least, Yeezy arrived on stage with crazy lighting and graphics as he layed on the ground being criticized by his digital space ship captain "Jane". He finally woke up to "Good Morning", and that's when the magic started including flames, dinosaurs, Robot drunken hot girls, & the list goes on. (Im sure Jim Henson was very proud of the final product) Every song you loved from the last album had a crazy twist like a live drum line that elevated from underground during the hook or crazy vocals that you weren't expecting from his background singers. Although, most of the joints he performed where from "Graduation", anybody in the audience who has ever worked a day in retail just about blew a gasket when he transitioned into "Spaceship".

Even though that short commentary does no justice to the dopeness the show entailed, I only felt it fair that I share my joy with the rest of the potluck fam & leave you with a clip of the last part of the show when he wanted to just get some sh!t off his chest, so enjoy...
